The Pampas Deerhound, also known as the Perro Cimarron or Cimarron Uruguayo, originated in Uruguay and is believed to have descended from dogs brought to South America by Spanish and Portuguese colonizers in the 16th and 17th centuries. It is a courageous, loyal, and confident breed that is known for its protective instincts and strong bond with its family. This breed was developed by gauchos and ranchers on the South American pampas to hunt large game, including deer and feral cattle, and to guard livestock and property.
