Karst Shepherd

The Karst Shepherd, known as the Kraševec in Slovenian, is one of the oldest indigenous breeds of the Karst plateau region of Slovenia, with documentation dating back several centuries. It is a confident, self-reliant, and protective dog that forms strong bonds with its family and flock while remaining naturally wary and reserved with strangers. This breed was developed by Slovenian shepherds to guard and protect livestock against wolves and other predators in the rugged Karst terrain.
