The Irish Red and White Setter is one of Ireland's oldest gundog breeds, predating the solid red Irish Setter and believed to have existed since at least the 17th century. It is an energetic, biddable, and friendly breed with a keen nose and strong desire to work, making it an enthusiastic and devoted companion both in the field and at home. This breed was developed to work as a bird dog, using its exceptional scenting ability to locate and set game birds for hunters in the Irish countryside.
