The Himalayan Sheepdog, also known as the Bhotia, is an ancient breed originating from the Himalayan regions of India and Nepal, where it has existed for centuries among mountain communities. It is a courageous, loyal, and protective dog with strong guarding instincts and a somewhat aloof or wary disposition toward strangers while being devoted to its family. This breed was developed to guard and protect livestock from predators such as wolves, leopards, and bears in the harsh high-altitude terrain of the Himalayas.
