The Westphalian Dachsbracke is a small scenthound originating from the Westphalia region of Germany, believed to have been developed by crossing standard Dachsbracke dogs with Dachshunds to produce a shorter-legged hunting companion. It is a friendly, tenacious, and determined dog with a pleasant temperament and a strong nose, making it both a capable hunter and an agreeable family companion. This breed was developed to track wounded game and hunt small quarry such as rabbit and fox through dense underbrush and in underground dens.
