The Catalan Sheepdog, or Gos d'Atura Català, originates from Catalonia in northeastern Spain and has been used by Pyrenean shepherds for centuries. It is an intelligent, friendly, and energetic breed that is highly adaptable and excels in obedience and agility activities. This breed was developed to herd and guard livestock in the rugged Pyrenean highlands, and it also served as a messenger and guard dog during the Spanish Civil War.
