The Spino degli Iblei is a rare landrace breed originating from the Iblean Mountains of southeastern Sicily, Italy, with ancient origins tied to the island's pastoral traditions. It is hardy, alert, and agile, possessing a strong prey drive and independent nature suited to rugged terrain. This breed was traditionally used by Sicilian shepherds and hunters to hunt small game and assist in protecting and managing livestock in the mountainous rural landscape.
