The Laizhou Hong, also known as the Chinese Red Dog, originated in the Laizhou region of Shandong Province, China, developed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries through crosses between native dogs and imported Western breeds. They are confident, courageous, and loyal, forming strong bonds with their owners while being naturally protective and territorial. Bred primarily as guard and protection dogs, they were used by local estates and farms to deter intruders and protect property.
