The King Shepherd is a relatively modern breed developed in the United States during the 1990s by breeders Shelley Watts-Cross and David Turkheimer, created by crossing the German Shepherd with Shiloh Shepherds and other large breeds. It is an intelligent, loyal, and confident dog with a calm and gentle temperament that makes it an excellent family companion and working partner. This breed was developed to retain the working versatility and intelligence of the German Shepherd while producing a larger, more robust dog suited for roles such as search and rescue, police work, and herding.
