Cirneco dell'Etna

The Cirneco dell'Etna is an ancient sighthound breed from Sicily, Italy, with a history stretching back over 2,500 years, depicted on coins and artifacts from ancient Greek settlements on the island. It is an elegant, affectionate, and lively breed that is gentle and sociable at home while showing tremendous tenacity and drive when hunting. This breed was developed to hunt rabbits on the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna, capable of going long periods without food or water in the rugged Sicilian terrain.
