Estonian Hound

Developed in Estonia during the Soviet era in the 20th century, the Estonian Hound was created by crossing local dogs with Beagles and other scent hound breeds to produce a compact hunting dog suited to Estonian forests. They are cheerful, determined, and sociable, possessing a strong hunting drive balanced with a friendly and even-tempered disposition. The breed was developed to hunt hare and fox through Estonian woodland terrain using its keen nose and melodious voice.
