The French Bulldog descended from English Bulldogs miniaturized by lace workers in Nottingham, England, who brought them to France during the Industrial Revolution where the breed gained enormous popularity in Paris. They are adaptable, affectionate, and playful with a charming and sometimes clownish personality, forming strong bonds with their owners and thriving on human companionship. The French Bulldog was developed as an urban companion dog, prized by Parisian society and working-class families alike for its small size and agreeable nature.
