It is a courageous, loyal, and intelligent dog that is deeply devoted to its family and territory while being naturally aloof and sometimes dominant with strangers. This breed was developed to herd and guard livestock on the rugged landscape of the Balearic Islands, serving as both a working sheepdog and a capable guardian.
