The Mountain Feist is a small hunting dog with deep roots in the rural American South, descended from terriers and small hounds brought by European settlers. It is an energetic, bold, and alert breed known for its tenacity and strong prey drive despite its compact size. It was developed primarily to tree squirrels and small game in the rugged mountain terrain of the southeastern United States.
