Taiwan Dog

The Taiwan Dog, also known as the Formosan Mountain Dog, is a primitive breed that has existed on the island of Taiwan for thousands of years, descended from ancient dogs brought by Austronesian peoples. It is agile, loyal, and highly alert, displaying a strong survival instinct and a deep bond with its chosen family while remaining wary of strangers. The breed was used by indigenous Taiwanese tribes as a hunting companion to track and pursue game in the dense mountainous forests of the island.
