The Berger Picard is considered one of the oldest French herding breeds, originating from the Picardy region of northern France with possible roots dating back to the 9th century when Celtic tribes migrated into the region. It is an energetic, loyal, and sometimes stubborn breed with a lively sense of humor and deep affection for its family. This breed was developed to herd sheep and cattle across the flat agricultural plains and marshes of the Picardy region.
