Slovak Cuvac

The Slovak Cuvac, also known as the Slovenský Čuvač, is an ancient livestock guardian breed originating in Slovakia and the surrounding Carpathian mountain regions of Central Europe. They are courageous, loyal, and protective dogs with a strong guarding instinct and a devoted nature toward their family, though they can be wary and assertive with strangers and other animals. Bred for centuries to protect flocks of sheep and other livestock from wolves and bears in the mountainous highlands, the Slovak Cuvac was developed to work independently and make decisions without direct human guidance.
