The Austrian Black and Tan Hound, known in German as the Brandlbracke, is an ancient breed from Austria believed to descend from Celtic hounds that existed in the region during the Middle Ages. They are friendly, reliable, tireless, and gentle dogs both in the field and at home, known for their excellent nose and melodious voice. Bred to hunt hare, fox, and wounded game through the mountainous and densely forested terrain of the Austrian Alps.
