The Valdueza is a rare Spanish scenthound originating in the Valdueza valley of the León region in northwestern Spain, where it has been bred for centuries in relative isolation. It is a determined, athletic, and independent dog with strong hunting instincts, though it can be loyal and steady with those it knows well. The breed was developed primarily to hunt wild boar and deer across the rugged terrain of the Iberian mountains, working alone or in small packs.
