The Alaskan Klee Kai is a relatively modern breed developed in the 1970s in Alaska by Linda Spurlin, who sought to create a companion-sized version of the Alaskan Husky. They are highly intelligent, curious, energetic, and somewhat reserved with strangers, forming very strong bonds with their immediate family. This breed was developed purely as a companion dog that captures the look and spirit of the larger Nordic sled dog breeds in a much smaller package.
