The Nenets Herding Laika originates from the Yamal Peninsula and surrounding Arctic regions of Russia, developed over centuries by the Nenets people of Siberia. It is an alert, intelligent, and hardy breed that forms close bonds with its family and is well adapted to extreme cold. It was bred to herd reindeer across vast Arctic tundra and also served as a sled dog and companion to nomadic indigenous communities.
