The Airedale Terrier originated in the Aire Valley of Yorkshire, England, during the mid-19th century, earning the title 'King of Terriers' as the largest of all terrier breeds. They are bold, intelligent, playful, and confident dogs with a strong personality and a deep loyalty to their families. Originally bred to hunt otters, rats, and other game along riverbanks, they later served in police and military roles during World War I.
