The Africanis is an ancient landrace breed that evolved naturally over thousands of years across sub-Saharan Africa, descending from dogs brought into Africa by ancient Middle Eastern and Nilotic peoples. They are intelligent, loyal, and highly adaptable dogs that form strong bonds with their families while remaining independent and resourceful. Historically they served as village dogs, watchdogs, and hunting companions for indigenous African communities.
