The Belgian Sheepdog, also known as the Groenendael, originates from Belgium and was developed in the late 19th century, named after the Château de Groenendael where breeder Nicolas Rose refined the breed. It is a highly intelligent, loyal, and sensitive breed with an intense work drive and a strong protective instinct toward its family. This breed was developed as a versatile herding dog and has since proven itself in police work, search and rescue, and military service.
