The Ca de Bou, also known as the Mallorcan Mastiff or Perro de Presa Mallorquín, originated on the island of Mallorca, Spain, with significant influence from English bulldogs and mastiffs brought by British traders in the 18th century. It is a calm, self-assured, and courageous dog that is loyal and affectionate with its family while remaining vigilant and reserved toward strangers. The breed was originally used for bull-baiting and dog fighting on the island of Mallorca, and later transitioned into a guard and protection dog.
