The Chinook is a rare American sled dog breed developed in New Hampshire in the early 20th century by explorer Arthur Treadwell Walden, who created it by crossing a mastiff-type dog with Greenland Husky-type dogs. It is a gentle, friendly, and hardworking breed known for its calm temperament, patience with children, and strong desire to please. This breed was purpose-built for sled dog racing and polar expedition work, combining the power of a freighting dog with the speed of a racing dog.
