Mahratta Hound

The Mahratta Hound is an ancient sighthound breed from the Deccan Plateau region of Maharashtra in western India, historically associated with the Maratha people and their culture. It is a lean, swift, and independent dog with a gentle disposition at home, though it possesses keen instincts and intense prey drive in the field. This breed was traditionally used by hunters and warriors of the Maratha Empire for coursing deer, hare, and other swift game across open terrain.
