The Calupoh, also known as the Mexican Wolfdog, is a recently formalized Mexican breed with ancient roots, believed to be descended from intentional crosses between wolves and domestic dogs practiced by pre-Columbian Mesoamerican civilizations. It is a loyal, intelligent, and energetic dog with a strong social bond to its family and notable wild instincts inherited from its wolf ancestry. The breed held significant ceremonial and symbolic importance in ancient Mexican cultures, and was also kept as a companion and guardian animal.
