The Kuchi, also known as the Afghan Shepherd or De Kochi Spai, is an ancient livestock guardian breed originating from Afghanistan, deeply associated with the nomadic Kuchi people of the region. They are powerful, independent, and highly territorial dogs that are fiercely protective of their flocks and families while remaining suspicious of strangers. Developed over centuries to guard nomadic herds of sheep, goats, and camels against wolves, leopards, and human threats across the harsh landscapes of Central Asia.
