Poodle (Standard)

The Standard Poodle is believed to have originated in Germany, though France became so closely associated with the breed that it is often considered the French national dog, with a history spanning several centuries. They are exceptionally intelligent, elegant, and trainable dogs known for their playful nature, keen alertness, and strong desire to please their owners. Originally developed as a water retriever, the Standard Poodle was bred to retrieve waterfowl for hunters, with its distinctive clip originally designed to improve swimming ability while protecting joints from cold water.
