The Kars dog, also known as the Caucasian Shepherd of Kars, originates from the Kars province of northeastern Turkey, developed by nomadic and semi-nomadic Anatolian peoples over many centuries. It is a calm, courageous, and fiercely protective breed that is deeply loyal to its family while remaining highly suspicious of strangers and intruders. This breed was developed to guard livestock, particularly sheep and cattle, against predators such as wolves and bears in harsh mountainous terrain.
