The Maremmano-Abruzzese Sheepdog is an ancient Italian breed originating from the Maremma plains and Abruzzese mountains of central Italy, with a history spanning over two thousand years. It is an independent, courageous, and deeply loyal dog that forms strong bonds with its flock and family while remaining naturally suspicious of strangers. This breed was developed as a livestock guardian dog to protect sheep and cattle from wolves, bears, and other predators across the Italian countryside.
