The Levriero Sardo is an ancient sighthound breed native to the island of Sardinia, Italy, believed to descend from sighthounds brought to the island by Phoenician and other Mediterranean traders thousands of years ago. They are elegant, reserved, and sensitive dogs that are deeply loyal to their owners but characteristically aloof and independent with strangers. Historically bred for hunting hare and small game across the rugged Sardinian landscape, they rely on their exceptional speed, agility, and keen eyesight to course prey.
