The German Roughhaired Pointer, or Deutsch Stichelhaar, is one of the oldest rough-coated German pointing breeds, developed in Germany in the mid-19th century from crosses of local rough-coated dogs with Pudelpointers and other hunting breeds. They are bold, reliable, and tenacious in the field, with a steady and self-assured temperament that transfers well to family life with proper socialization. Bred as a versatile hunting dog suited for pointing, tracking, and retrieving game across varied German terrain and weather conditions.
