The Maltese is a toy breed originating from Malta, prized for centuries as a companion dog among Mediterranean nobility. Known for its silky, flowing white coat and diminutive size, the breed possesses a gentle, affectionate temperament combined with surprising spunk and alertness despite its delicate appearance. This breed excels as a devoted lapdog and thrives in close human companionship, though it requires consistent grooming to maintain its distinctive long coat.
