The Yakutian Laika is one of the oldest sled dog breeds in the world, originating with the indigenous Yakut people of the Sakha Republic in Siberia, Russia, where evidence of similar dogs dates back thousands of years. It is a friendly, energetic, and people-oriented breed known for its sociability, intelligence, and affectionate nature toward both humans and other dogs. Developed by the Yakut people to serve as a sled dog, hunter's companion, and reindeer herder in one of the harshest Arctic climates on Earth.
