The Indian Pariah Dog is one of the oldest and most primitive dog breeds in the world, originating from the Indian subcontinent and believed to have existed for thousands of years as a landrace breed. It is highly alert, intelligent, and adaptable, forming strong bonds with its family while remaining naturally cautious and territorial around strangers. Historically it was not selectively bred for a specific working role but rather evolved through natural selection, living as a free-ranging scavenger and community dog alongside human settlements.
