The Lobito Herreño, also known as the Herreño Shepherd, is an ancient breed native to El Hierro, the smallest of the Canary Islands in Spain, with roots that may predate Spanish colonization. It is an agile, intelligent, and alert dog that is devoted to its owner and naturally cautious around strangers. This breed was traditionally used to herd and manage livestock on the rugged volcanic terrain of El Hierro island.
