The Chow Chow is an ancient Chinese breed that originated as a multipurpose working dog used for hunting, herding, and guarding. Known for its distinctive blue-black tongue, lion-like appearance, and medium-length fluffy coat, the breed is characterized by an independent and aloof temperament, displaying dignified reserve and loyalty toward its family while remaining cautious with strangers. With low to moderate exercise requirements, the Chow Chow is best suited to owners who appreciate a calm, self-possessed companion and can provide consistent socialization and grooming maintenance.
