The Grand Anglo-Français Blanc et Noir was developed in France through crosses between English Foxhounds and French hound breeds, emerging as a distinct type in the 19th century. They are energetic, sociable, and pack-oriented dogs that thrive in the company of other hounds and are devoted to the hunt above all else. They were bred exclusively as pack hunting hounds, used to pursue large game such as deer and wild boar across the French countryside.
