Large sizeShort coatHigh sheddingHigh energyLow barking
The Saarloos Wolfdog was developed in the Netherlands in the early 20th century by Dutch breeder Leendert Saarloos, who crossed a German Shepherd with a Eurasian wolf. They are reserved, independent, and pack-oriented dogs that tend to be cautious around strangers and form strong bonds with their family. Saarloos originally developed the breed hoping to create a more robust and natural working dog, though the wolflike temperament made them less suited to traditional service roles.
