The Pumi is an ancient Hungarian breed that developed over several centuries through the mixing of native Hungarian herding dogs with French and German herding breeds brought to Hungary. It is a lively, alert, and highly intelligent dog with a spirited personality and a tendency to be vocal and expressive. The breed was traditionally used to drive and herd cattle, sheep, and pigs across the Hungarian plains and highlands.
