Irish Water Spaniel

The Irish Water Spaniel is Ireland's largest spaniel breed, with records dating back to the early 19th century, though its exact ancestry remains debated among historians. It is a bold, playful, and somewhat clownish breed with an independent streak, known for its intelligence, loyalty, and occasional stubbornness. This breed was specifically developed for waterfowl retrieval in harsh Irish marshes and lakes, with its dense, water-repellent curly coat and natural swimming ability making it an exceptional aquatic hunting companion.
