Schillerstövare

The Schillerstövare is a Swedish scenthound breed developed in the late 19th century by farmer Per Schiller, who exhibited the breed at the first Swedish dog show in 1886, combining Swedish hound stock with Austrian and German hound influences. They are energetic, determined, and even-tempered dogs known for their exceptional ability to work independently in harsh Scandinavian conditions, remaining loyal and pleasant in the home. This breed was developed specifically to hunt fox and hare over snow-covered terrain in Sweden, valued for its speed, endurance, and keen nose.
