The Lancashire Heeler is a small British breed originating in the county of Lancashire, England, believed to have been developed through crosses between the Welsh Corgi and Manchester Terrier. They are clever, energetic, and affectionate with family yet can be stubborn, displaying a characteristic smile that endears them to their owners. Developed as a dual-purpose working dog, they were used to drive cattle to market by nipping at their heels as well as to hunt rats and rabbits on farms.
