The Kanni is a rare and ancient sighthound breed originating from the Tamil Nadu region of southern India, with a history that stretches back thousands of years among Tamil communities. They are gentle, shy, and intensely loyal dogs that are highly devoted to their owners while remaining reserved and aloof with strangers, rarely showing aggression. They were traditionally used for coursing and hunting small to medium game such as hares and deer across the open terrain of southern India.
