The Montenegrin Mountain Hound is an ancient scenthound breed originating from Montenegro in the western Balkans, with a history that may stretch back several centuries among the mountainous communities of the region. It is a passionate, determined, and courageous dog with strong hunting drive, endurance, and a loyal, affectionate temperament toward its owner. This breed was developed to hunt fox, hare, and wild boar across the steep, rugged mountain terrain of the Balkans, prized for its powerful nose, loud voice, and relentless pursuit.
