The Braque Saint-Germain is a French pointing breed that originated in the royal forests of Saint-Germain-en-Laye near Paris in the early 19th century, developed by crossing English Pointers with French braques under the patronage of King Charles X. They are elegant, gentle, affectionate, and sensitive dogs that are eager to please and thrive when given consistent training and close companionship with their handlers. They were bred as a refined and fast-working gun dog used by French nobility to point and retrieve game birds with style and efficiency across open hunting grounds.
