The Cesky Terrier was created in Czechoslovakia in the mid-20th century by geneticist František Horák, who crossed the Sealyham Terrier with the Scottish Terrier to produce a more cooperative hunting dog. It is a calm, clever, and reserved breed compared to many terriers, being less aggressive and more amenable to training while still retaining terrier tenacity. This breed was specifically developed to hunt rats, foxes, and other quarry in the forests and fields of Bohemia.
