One of the rarest dog breeds in the world, the Ecuadorian Hairless Dog originates from Ecuador and is believed to share ancient roots with other pre-Columbian hairless breeds of South America. They are affectionate, alert, and somewhat reserved with strangers, making them devoted companions to those they trust. Originally they were kept as companion animals and may have held ceremonial or spiritual significance among indigenous Ecuadorian cultures.
